Children’s Ministry
Welcome to CFBC’s preschool and Children’s Ministries! The Children’s Ministry at Cowan First Baptist seeks to provide a caring ministry to both your child and you as a parent. Through a broad range of programming, your child will experience acceptance; engage in hands-on, age-suitable learning; have fun; and express their faith. Everything your child participates in, from lessons to games, will focus on teaching them Biblical Truth. Through getting to know you and knowing each child, the use of roll call, and church security measures including workers and volunteers undergoing background checks; your child will be safe while you worship and attend Sunday School or Bible study as well as other activities.
Nursery (Birth – 3 year-olds)
In our Nursery Ministry, we teach age-suitable Biblical Truth and have rooms designed to support a baby’s learning needs. We believe learning Biblical Truth can, and should, begin at birth.
Older Preschool (3 year-olds – K)
All of our Older Preschool classes provide children with age-suitable learning and activities related to the Biblical content. Classroom teachers support preschoolers by pointing them back to Biblical Truth and directing them through these activities.
Elementary Grade Classes (1st – 2nd Grade and 3rd – 5th Grade)
Children’s Church
Salvation
Your child’s spiritual development is important to us here at Cowan First Baptist Church. When a child makes a decision to follow Jesus as his/her personal Lord and Savior, we want to partner with parents and families to celebrate that decision and to build on the child’s understanding of the personal decision and public profession. All children (6th grade and under), who have asked Jesus to come into their heart, made a public profession of faith, are seeking baptism or respond during an invitation during the worship service are asked to attend the New Christian Counseling Session. Due to the sensitive content of this session, we ask that at least one parent attend all sessions with their child. Our sessions are offered in coordination with the parents. This session is designed to provide critical information that will help each child gain a better understanding of his/her decision. The following information will be covered during the session:
- Importance of Becoming a Christian
- Process of Becoming a Christian
- Baptism
- The Lord’s Supper
- The Need for Prayer
- How to Develop a Quiet Time
- Discipleship Skills
- How the Church Works
