Loving God, Loving People, Serving Both

WOTW Prayer Ministry

CFBC Watchmen on The Wall is a prayer ministry done by the church, for the church. We will be praying for the entire ministry of CFBC continually.  Prayers for the individual needs and emergencies of our members will be covered by phone calls, texts, Facebook, Twitter and other media. We are asking our people to commit to what I believe is biblical, simple and can easily be grafted into the lives of hundreds of our people weekly.

Therefore, we will ask you to be a part by committing to do three things:

§  30 minutes of weekly prayer established at the same time weekly, using our prayer guide

§  Read any updates we send

§  Share with others how they can join us in prayer

We will communicate with you via email, telephone and social networking; or face-to-face.

If you don’t think you can do thirty minutes consecutively, the prayer guide will walk you through a process.  Anyone can follow it.  Remember, this is a guide and other prayer topics may be added as the Holy Spirit leads.

CFBC Family, it is past time we stop settling for the mundane life of the church world today.  It contradicts what the church is supposed to be as described in the book of Acts.  Now is the time for us to pray like never before, as a church, and let the Holy Spirit supersize our church with God-sized dreams.

Prayer is our key to God's door.  It is our foundation to the exercising of and growth in the faith, and essential in our witnessing.  It is the work of Christ through the work of the Spirit that saves.  Prayer lines us up to His will and grows us in maturity and understanding.  It is the power behind, in the mist of, and in front of the faith.  To be effective in our growth in Christ, we have to be a people and individuals who pray and pray regularly.

Will you go with me? I need you in the CFBC Watchmen on The Wall Prayer Ministry!

I have included the topics below for your information and accountability.

Beginning February 4, we will again have 24 Days of Prayer together as a church. This will be a significant spiritual marker in the lives of our members and the life of our church.

Thank you for praying with us,

L Z

6 Major Prayer Needs to Focus (20 Minutes)

1. Speak to my family, Your church, our community, and me in these 24 Days of Prayer from February 4-28, 2018.

“’If only you would bless me, extend my border, let Your hand be with me, and keep me from harm, so that I will not experience any pain.’ And God granted his request.” 1 Chronicles 4:10

·       Jesus, help me to begin 2018 by seeking You first and empower me to focus on specific ways I can pray for my family, our church, our community, and myself in these days of focused prayer.

·       Oh God, call hundreds of people to seek You in these 24 Days of Prayer. Seek Your face. Seek Your will. Seek You in Your Word. Seek Your power. Seek Your works in and through our lives.

·       Oh God, intervene with Your favor in my life, in my family, in our church, and in our community.

·       Dear God, enlarge our opportunities and influence for Your name and Gospel through my life, through my family, through our church, and through our community.

·       Father in Heaven, only through Your power am I able to walk through the opportunities You bring my way, opportunities You bring to my family, opportunities You bring to our church, and opportunities You bring to our community. Lord, help us represent You in the highest manner.

·       Lord God, You alone can keep me from harm, so guard my life from harm, guard my family from harm, guard our church from harm, and guard our community and nation from harm.

·       Father, remind me and help me to participate daily and fully in these 24 Days of Prayer.

·       Oh God, may these 24 days lead to a mighty move of God in my own life, spiritual revitalization in our family, revival in our church, and spiritual awakening in Cowan and Franklin County and beyond through our nation and to the world.

·       Lord Jesus, do what only You can do in these 24 days! You can do more in a moment than we can do in a lifetime!

2. Lead CFBC in our church’s mission to be “salt and light” in our community

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Act 1:8

·       Lord, help us to approach our community sacrificially and open hearts to the Gospel by demonstrating the Gospel before we declare the Gospel.

·       Jesus, You are the Savior of the world, draw all those who are spiritually lost in our region to hear the gospel and be transformed by God’s grace and power.

·       God, only through Your Holy Spirit can we show God’s love in a way that people exchange ordinary living for an extraordinary life through the transforming power of Jesus Christ.

·       God, may each member of CFBC have a servant’s heart and each church member be actively engaged in, and passionate about outreach using our gifts and abilities in ways and at levels never thought possible (John 17:20-23)

·       God, thank you for changing hearts. We know that rejection can be changed to repentance amongst those who were hostile and now are praising God.

·       God, thank you for the Spiritual harvest that will flow through our outreach and You be glorified through achieving 200 in Sunday School and 400 in Worship each Sunday by December 31, 2018.

3. Provide for Your church as we give to You, O Lord.

“On the first day of the week, each of you is to set something aside and save in keeping with how he is prospering, so that no collections will need to be made when I come.” 1 Corinthians 16:2

·       God, may all our people begin this year to give weekly at least the first tenth of all God has given to them, walking in complete obedience to Your Word. For those who are giving, bless them in their obedience to Christ.

·       Lord, convict and lead all of us to increase our weekly commitment to financial stewardship in 2018.

·       Lord, miraculously and supernaturally eliminate all financial debt for CFBC now or by the end of the year 2022.

·       God, only You can bless and meet the needs of Your people, so we ask that You do so generously for all of our people who give.

·       Thank you, Lord, for answering our prayers relating to our church’s financial needs, for You are more than able to meet these needs (exceeding abundantly) (Ephesians 3:20 for Your Glory.

·       Lord Jesus, Provider of All, bless all of our people financially in 2018 in a powerful and bountiful manner.

4 Engage all the couples and familes in Your church.

“To sum up, each one of you is to love his wife as himself, and the wife is to respect her husband.” Ephesians 5:33

·       Heavenly Father, give us humble hearts to learn more about marriage and be willing to change what is needed in our lives to make marriage more meaningful and fulfilling.

·       Lord Jesus, You are the secret to marriage. As we move closer to You, we will move closer to our mate.

·       Father, please shine your light upon my family.   Give us strength to overcome all of the difficulties that we may face today and protect us against any and all problems we may encounter in the future.

·        Lord, please bring us together as we are meant to be. May the love that binds us only grow stronger as we fulfill the destiny you have laid out for us.

·       Grant my family forgiveness for any sins we have committed.  May we also forgive one another Lord, as it is sometimes difficult to do.

·       Father, please protect the families of CFBC, as well as the members of each family.

5. Trust God to lead the leaders of America through these critical times of decision making.

“For I know the plans I have for you”—this is the Lord’s declaration “plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

·       Lord, we trust You to convict our community, state and national leaders of Your     desire for them to work together in unity for the wellbeing of our nation.

·       Sovereign Lord, we appeal to You alone to give our nation a future and a hope.

·       Spirit of God, move upon the leaders of our nation to work together toward resolving the following issues for the welfare of our nation:

  • Healthcare reform
  • Immigration reform
  • National security
  • Religious liberty
  • Sanctity and dignity of human life
  • Other issues that arise in 2018

·       Lord and Defender, we appeal to You to protect the leaders of our community, state, nation and their families, as well as the members of our military nationally and globally, and all the first responders in our nation.

·       Father, we #PRAY4UNITY in America and all efforts to forward unity and pray for unity on Thursday, May 3, 2018.

 6. Anoint our Pastor, Rev. L Z Johnson, as he leads Your church, proclaims Your Word, and provides direction.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power if perfected in weakness.’ Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may reside in me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

·       Holy Spirit, anoint our Pastor as he leads our church, proclaims Your Word to us and across our community.

·       Lord, perfect Your power through our Pastor’s weaknesses personally, and through these weaknesses exalt Yourself.

·       Lord Jesus, give our Pastor specific leadership for our church, our staff team, and church leadership (Council, Deacons, Trustees and Teams) as we move through this year and beyond.

·       Father, as our Pastor proclaims Your Word from the Bible, anoint him with power from on High, immersing him with Your power in his preparation and then through his presentation of it to others.

·       Lord, please anoint our Pastor as he engages daily at CFBC and as he speaks and provides leadership in:

  • Preparation and study weekly
  • Preaching at CFBC weekly
  • Speaking and leading the staff team of CFBC
  • Pastoring our church families and visiting the sick
  • Father, please protect Pastor L Z and Debbie daily, as well as the members of their family.

Wrap Up (2 Minutes)

·       As you name each of these six specific requests again:

  • BELIEVE God to honor and lead us as we pray as one.
  • THANK GOD in advance for answering our prayers.
  • ASK GOD to EMPOWER AND REMIND you to advance UNITY everywhere you go.
